Tajikistan’s Somon Air suspends flights to 7 Russian destinations

DUSHANBE, Apr 2 (PRIME) -- Tajik airline Somon Air has suspended flights to seven Russian destinations after a telegram from Russia’s Federal Air Transport Agency, an official of the airline told PRIME on April 1.

The list of cities comprises Yekaterinburg, Irkutsk, Kazan, Krasnodar, Krasnoyarsk, St. Petersburg and Sochi.

On December 23, Russia suspended flights of Somon Air to regions as Tajik authorities failed to coordinate flights of Russian airline Yamal to Tajikistan from the Moscow Region’s Zhukovsky airport. In response, the Tajik authorities cancelled flights of Russia’s Urals Airlines from Russian cities of Krasnodar, Ufa, Chelyabinsk, and Krasnoyarsk.

In March 2018, the conflict between the air authorities reemerged with mutual suspension of flights and route prolongation. Russia’s Transport Ministry expects Tajikistan to solve air travel issues by Thursday, Minister Maxim Sokolov said earlier.
